In this land of dark deception,
Will you reap the good you sow?
Do bad boys always wither,
And good men always grow?
They say the truth will set you free,
And it may open your eyes.
But to do so it must cruelly smash,
Some once beloved lies.
When life sees fit to tempt you,
With power, wealth or beauty.
To pass it by brings nothing,
But a tarnished sense of duty.
The light that shines out in the dark.
A trap to lure you thence.
When a corner cast in shadow,
May come to your defence.
The certainty that drives you,
May march you past a fork,
That had doubt made you consider,
Could've halved the road you walk.
When all is lost you should rejoice.
You've everything to gain.
So do not guard the things you have.
The fear of loss is pain.
What good's the love that blinds you,
If you cannot see the danger?
A friend's the perfect enemy,
And everyone's a stranger.
So seek ye no more wisdom.
Live ignorant and well.
It's better to just muddle though,
As living wise is hell.
